You did the work. You passed your first aid and CPR course. Now you need the certificate — your employer wants it before your start date, your school needs it for your placement file, and the deadline is not moving.
So you wait. And wait.
Getting the certificate into your hands, quickly, is one of the biggest frustrations in first aid training — and it’s where The Academy for First Aid and Safety does things completely differently.
The waiting game: how long other providers take
Ask around, and you’ll hear the same timelines again and again: “up to seven business days.” Sometimes much longer.
Take the Lifesaving Society, one of Canada’s largest certification bodies. On the Society’s own certification processing page, they state it plainly: it can take up to 90 days to receive your permanent certification card. The paperwork trail explains why — your instructor’s test sheets can take a few weeks just to reach the Society, then comes processing, then Canada Post delivery on top of that. Three months for a card you may need for a job that starts Monday.
A temporary card is not a certificate
So what do you get on the day of your course instead? At many providers, a temporary certificate — good for a short window (30 days is common) while the real one is “in process.”
The Lifesaving Society’s own interim card policy is blunt about what that paper is worth: interim cards are a temporary proof until your award is officially processed — and they cannot be used as proof of certification for Workplace First Aid.
Read that again. The piece of paper you walk out with may not even be accepted by the employer you took the course for.

The Academy difference: the real 3-year certificate, before you leave
At The Academy for First Aid and Safety, there is no temporary card and no waiting game. Your actual certificate — the full 3-year certification — is issued before you leave the class.
As far as we know, we are the only first aid training institution that does this. And the reason we can is simple: we use artificial intelligence to issue certificates.
Here is how it works:
- Your class finishes, and your instructor confirms everyone who passed.
- The instructor simply speaks to our app: “Please process the certificates for every person in this class.”
- Within about a minute, every student in the class receives an email with their certificate attached — the real, official 3-year certificate, ready to forward to an employer or school that same day.
No test sheets in the mail. No 90-day processing queue. No temporary card that an employer can refuse.

Built for big classes, too
Because the process is powered by AI, it scales. We can generate hundreds of certificates within a minute and email them to every student at once — a huge advantage for large corporate and group classes, where chasing down dozens of certificates a week later is an administrative headache nobody needs.
We are proud to say it plainly: as of today, we believe we are the only first aid company in Ontario using AI to issue certificates the same day, on the spot. We built this because we recognize that a certificate delivered quickly is not a luxury — for people who need their training to start a job or a placement, it is an essential part of the service.
And that’s not the only difference
